Personal profile

Dilip Kumar Mothiram is Programme Manager and Senior Lecturer in Fashion Design at º£½ÇÉçÇø, overseeing the dual award BA Fashion Design / BA Apparel Design delivered in partnership with Xi’an Polytechnic University, China. He brings over 20 years of international experience in both higher education and the fashion industry.

His teaching and research focus on fashion design pedagogy, experiential learning, and the integration of design thinking into creative practice. Currently completing a PhD at Heriot-Watt University, Dilip’s research explores how fashion education can respond to a rapidly evolving global industry while equipping students with creativity, adaptability, and critical thinking skills.

Before joining DMU, Dilip held senior academic roles at institutions including Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (China), Heriot-Watt University Dubai, and Raffles Design Institute. Alongside academia, he has worked in professional design roles in lingerie, denim, and sportswear, collaborating with top brands.
He is passionate about helping students become confident, resilient designers ready to make an impact in the global fashion industry.
